I had the double cheese burger and chili cheese fries. First of all the burger was huge and fresh and great, the fries were again a large order and again great. Service is go and everything is made to order. Watch out because it it very hot when it gets to your table.

This restaurant has helped this little town out over the years. This town has changed so much since I left it 14 years ago. I hope this business remains for years to come to give the town some sort of originality. What else might you find in this small town? Two gas stations. A Dollar Store. A bank(named after another county I might add). An elementary school. A small public park/playground that the city donated to the school for some reason. It was a cold day in Crab Town when they donated it and fenced it up to keep people out.

For the locals there... I'm sure they remember the pool hall and the restaurant that Bobby had there. Everyone went to that local hangout to eat, sip their coffee, and chat/gossip for hours. Those buildings have since been torn down. Sadly, there are a lot of historic buildings through 'downtown' Crab Orchard that were torn down. It doesn't even feel like home anymore when I drive through.

Since I left, a by-pass was built passing Crab Orchard by and sending people on to Brodhead/Mt. Vernon... Stanford/Danville in the other direction. With that, there's not a lot of traffic that flows through Crab Orchard anymore. If you find yourself flowing through and needing a bite to eat, go ahead and take the quick side trip into Crab Orchard for Past Time Cafe.

I give this place four stars because I'm comparing the food to other diners that are similar. This spot is also the only place to sit down and eat for quite a few miles. It's good. It's inexpensive. It's not going to be top-notch food, but it's just fine for the area. Along with their menu, they do have daily specials for you to enjoy. That's not even mentioning that three of us went to eat and got out of there for around $13-14. I'm not sure what's wrong with me! I completely forgot to take a picture of the menu(next time). If you're reading this and you're there... snap a photo of the menu, post it, collect good karma and thanks!

The only reason this place gets one star taken away is because it's in an area where smokers and non-smokers mingle together. After you're used to not smelling other people's smoke.. it makes it tough to deal with it... even on rare occasions. I will say this... this restaurant has done well to keep the two areas separate by having two separate rooms. While I didn't smell smoke while there, the entire place had that tinge of a smoker's hall.

    Side notes:
    -- Food is inexpensive.
    -- Staff is friendly.
-- It is a place where locals hangout so if you're from out of town, go in, be friendly, and eat. Don't be a big city terd sandwich. Small town folk don't have time to deal with your shenanigans.
-- With that... also don't be offended if some of the locals stare. Locals aren't used to seeing new people in the establishments where they waste so much of their time every day. They're likely staring at you to figure out who you look like in town or who you're related to or why you're there.

This is your typical small town diner but they do it well. Food is good. Only given 4 stars cause it does take a while to get your food even when they aren't busy.

First visit - hand ribeye sandwich and loved it. Followed it up with a cherry turnover for dessert. It was great.

Server was excellent and made our experience relaxing and fun. We will most definitely be back.

They have special menu items on weekdays, so that is something we look forward to trying.

Quaint cafe set in the heart of Crab Orchard, KY with friendly and efficient staff. The food is served hot and fresh, and delicious! The prices are reasonable.
It's a nice step back into time compared to the hustle and bustle of city restaurants .
